This is achieved by conducting a highly intensive two or three stage machine polishing process relevelling a small percentage (usually around 2-5 microns) of the uppermost layer of lacquer/paint on the car in order to reveal a layer of new unblemished lacquer/paintbelow. The time taken to fully correct the paint is dependant upon several factors: The condition of the paintwork (swirl marks, scratches, acid etching etc). Does the car have a clearcoat lacquer finish or is it a solid colour in 1K?. Is the car lacquered with a new scratch resistant ceramic finish? The size of the vehicle, is it a Ferrari Dino or LWB Rolls Royce? Complexity of the body styling. All of these factors will be taken into consideration.

In long term tests conducted by Auto-Detail natural Carnauba wax applied to the panels of a vehicle tended to last around 90 days.
